a monthly poetry blog

Poetry

Wonderfully weird and entirely visceral, poetry is my passion. I write as often as I can (usually monthly), taking local classes and honing my craft.

unexpected places

I was searching for joy
And I found it in you
Your arrival rebirthed me
Messy, sleepless, battleworn
Until your first smile glimmered
Prismatic rays burst everywhere
Now you're telling bad jokes
That light my soul with laughter

I was searching for freedom
And I found it in you
Weighed down in responsibilities
Endless diapers and laundry
Now I lay the socks down
So we can race around the block
Collect berries and daisies
And jump in every puddle we see

I was searching for meaning
And I found it in you
First I had to lose myself
Question the fabric of my life
Now I see it's woven with us
Marvelling at fire trucks
Giving bone-crushing hugs
Being the hero in each other's story
